The Habitot Children’s Museum, originally located in downtown Berkeley, has shifted their business model to include new at-home and outdoor mobile museum events. One of their exciting new features is called a BoxiTot.

1. Everything Is Included

These activity kits come with ABSOLUTELY everything you need to complete a project. You do not have to incorporate any extra materials from home. Literally, you could take this box on a camping trip and not need to bring anything else. Besides the paint and stickers, our most recent box included a paintbrush, a safety box cutter, a hole puncher, scissors, tape, glue, rubber bands, and a flashlight. They even included BATTERIES for the flashlight! Most art kits would expect you to provide some of these items from home, but BoxiTot makes it very easy to get started right away.

2. It’s Developmentally Appropriate

While typical “crafts” are cute, they usually come with predetermined results and expectations. Kids are so creative by nature, and Habitot believes we should embrace their ideas. BoxiTot reminds caregivers that this is not a one-size-fits-all craft in the instructions. They celebrate creativity and unique art choices with process-based art.

3. It Comes With A Video Guide

It’s very apparent how much thought goes in to creating these boxes each month. As a subscriber, you’ll receive an email after your box ships, which links to a curated video specifically for the project.

4. BoxiTot Encourages Community

Everything is more fun when you do it with friends! An Art Studio manager from Habitot hosts two interactive zoom sessions per box, where subscribers can tune in to do the activity together live. These zoom calls are exclusive to subscribers and included in the price.
