This historic hotel was originally built in 1904, when it was called the “St. Francis Hotel.” It survived the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and has since hosted many famous and notable guests, like Shirley Temple, Helen Keller, Theodore Roosevelt, Queen Elizabeth II and President John F. Located in downtown San Francisco on Market between the Ferry Building and Union Square is the Palace Hotel, a landmark historic hotel. This San Francisco classic was originally built in 1875, burned down after the 1906 earthquake, and then was completely rebuilt and reopened in 1909.
